DUST - An Accidental Time Capsule
Following the tremendous success of the 2023 DUST Exhibition in Corsicana, Texas and inspired by the stories we were able to collect from across the region, we are pleased to announce DUST - An Accidental Time Capsule, a documentary film directed by Mark Birnbaum and produced by Full Frame Foundation, Allison V. Smith and Michael Thomas.
DUST - An Accidental Time Capsule will trace the history of the collection from its 1948 origin at City Office Supply in Corsicana, Texas through its various movements over seven decades to its discovery in 2019 and how through a series of minor miracles these forgotten photographs became an accidental time capsule. Captivating interviews with individuals who appear in the photographs, who are related to subjects, or have knowledge of events depicted in the photographs add context and touch on various themes including family, ranching, civil rights, religion, and public service.
DUST the collection has been described as “Heartbreaking and Beautiful” by author David Searcy and “A Record of Tenderness” by John Freeman, Executive Editor Knopf. DUST - An Accidental Time Capsule, like the photographs in the DUST collection, promises to be poignant, humorous and thought provoking.
